Happy Birthday to me! 🎉
To celebrate my birthday, I want to share the wonderful commission @s117rartblog did for me! I’m so happy that it turned out so beautiful! Thank you so much, Sierra! I loved them! 💙🩵
I love mermaids and mermen so much! It would be amazing if IS could make a mermaids/mermen banner, but, deep in my heart, I know it won’t happen 🫠
I want to write an AU about merpeople Ikezura! I hope I can write it next year!

Finally a peice that talks about how 5 of the 6 in the people killed in the sydney stabbings were women. And yes he was mentally ill but he felt entitled to a girlfriend.
By Victoria Smith 16 April, 2024
Did Joel Cauchi, the man who killed six people in a Sydney shopping centre, do so because he was mentally ill? Or did he do it because he hated women?
Five out of six of Cauchi’s victims were women, which does seem targeted. Nonetheless, according to his family, Cauchi, 40, “battled with mental health issues since he was a teenager”. For this reason, some have found talk of misogyny unseemly, if not exploitative. To categorise Cauchi’s act as male violence against women, if not terrorism underpinned by misogynist ideology, can be appear dismissive of genuine sickness. Sometimes, bad things just happen because people are unwell.
For women who live with men who have severe mental health diagnoses, there is little comfort in discussions such as these. On the one hand, there is an enormous amount of pressure to downplay the idea that mentally ill men are more likely to be violent than other men (they are, but to say so is viewed as contributing to stigma). On the other hand, is it fair for a man with severe mental illness to be judged by the same moral standards as other men? Shouldn’t we be recognising that they cannot control their perceptions and fears?
See rest of article
The Sydney attacker was desperate for a girlfriend, his family has revealed as police confirmed that he had targeted women.
Joel Cauchi killed five women and one man during a knife attack on the Bondi Junction Westfield shopping centre on Saturday.
Karen Webb, the New South Wales police commissioner, said: “The videos speak for themselves. It’s obvious the offender had focused on women and avoided the men.”
The majority of the 12 people Cauchi seriously wounded were female, including a baby girl.
Andrew Cauchi, his father, said on Monday he knew why his mentally unwell son had targeted women. The 76-year-old told reporters outside his home in Queensland: “Because he wanted a girlfriend and he’s got no social skills and he was frustrated out of his brain.”
Describing his son as “very sick”, he described trying to deal with the feelings of “loving a monster”.
A “heroic” policewoman who stopped a lone knifeman mid-rampage during a killing spree in a Sydney shopping centre has been named.
In one of several heroic attempts to disarm the attacker on Saturday, Amy Scott, a NSW Police Inspector, walked up calmly behind the attacker and ordered him to drop his weapon.
When he refused to do so and lunged at her with a knife, she shot him.
Six people were killed after the culprit – later identified by police as Queensland man Joel Cauchi – went on a stabbing spree in Westfield Bondi Junction, including a mother whose baby is reportedly now in a critical condition.
“She is certainly a hero. There is no doubt that she saved lives through her action,” Anthony Albanese, the Australian prime minister, said on Saturday.

Breakdown
Warnings: kidnapping, torture, restraints
"Hero," Sidekick called as they wandered through Base. "Hero, we have to go do--" But the words died in Sidekick's throat as they found Hero hunched over their desk, feverishly writing on a piece of paper. "Hero?"
"Can't talk." Hero didn't turn around. "I'm working."
Sidekick walked forward. Hero had been like this for days. And Sidekick wasn't exactly sure why. "What are you working on? Maybe I can--"
"Go away, Sidekick. You can't help me. No one can help me. It's all my fault," they said as they began to sob uncontrollably.
Sidekick had never seen Hero break down like this before. They weren't even sure they had seen Hero cry before. "There, there," they said gently as they patted Hero's back awkwardly. "I can try to help you. Tell me what's going on."
"I can't," Hero sobbed into their arms. "I can't tell you."
"When was the last time you slept, Hero?" Sidekick hadn't seen Hero leave this room in days. They had assumed Hero left and went to bed after they had. This display of emotion had them doubting that.
"I can't sleep. Not until I find them. I have to help them."
"Who, Hero. Who are you trying to save?" Sidekick tried to get Hero to look at them, but Hero only buried their head in their arms harder as they sobbed.
"Villain. I have to save Villain."
Sidekick tried not to recoil. "Why on earth would you save them?" They sneered.
"Superhero's gonna kill them. Instead of me."
***
Villain's chest was heaving as they sat in the chair Superhero had bound them to. The power suppressing cuffs kept them from breaking free. Kept them a prisoner for Superhero's torture.
"Why don't you just say it and we can be done?" Superhero paced around Villain. They had grown tired of this game. They wanted to end it. But they couldn't, not until Villain gave them the name.
"No."
Villain had been saying no for days. Days and days of denying Superhero. Days and days of pain and torture. Days and days of protecting the one person that mattered to Villain. Hero.
Superhero stopped suddenly in front of Villain, raising their fist high. Villain flinched. "You'll give me what I want. They all do eventually," Superhero chuckled.
"I'll die before I give you what you want." Though Villain was afraid, they knew their words were true. They would never betray Hero. Even if it killed them.
Superhero gathered their power as they raised their fist once more. "That can be arranged." And they released all their mighty power as they punched Villain in the gut.

idk if i’m supposed to ask here but could you do a frank zhang x reader fic? it doesn’t have to be elaborate, i just feel like there isn’t much frank content out there and i really really like your writing!! also i hope your holidays were great <333
Hopefully it’s not too late to make a Christmas themed piece even though it’s January bc nobody can tell me that frank zhang won’t dress up as santa for kids in Camp Jupiter.
Walking around Camp Jupiter, the presence of Christmas was in the air. Well, technically the presence of the Winter Solstice. Snow shouldn’t be in here but the legacies and children of the God Hiems made it so snow would be everywhere. The spirit of winter was ever present in New Rome. Children running around, stockings hanging in every house, carols sung from block to block. Christmas is indeed in the air and there’s only one thing missing.
“Where do you think Frank is?” Julia asked, the young legacy was given a break by Terminus for the winter. She had taken a liking to following you and Frank everywhere when Percy isn’t around. So far, babysitting has been placed into your duty. Where is Frank anyways?
“He’s about to miss the santa show” the child pouted. You sighed, rubbing Julia's shoulder as she clings onto you. Contrary to the typical demigod traits, Frank was never late. Never. This would be the first time he was ever late to anything. Worry lines etched on your brow, he couldn't have forgotten that today was Christmas.
Almost as if the gods had planned it, Frank was there. Except he’s not... Frank?
"Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!" said a voice way too fake and low to be your boyfriend and yet it is him, and you can tell he was straining his voice to keep up the old grandpa appearance.
Screams and yells from children all around filled New Rome. Santa was here to ask for their gifts, and hopefully bring them their gifts as they were all tucked in bed in the wee hours of the night.
Yep, that was your boyfriend all right. The sweet, kind, and caring Frank Zhang. And you couldn't ask for much more.

----------
They couldn’t breathe.
Leader’s hand was tight around their throat, painfully so, and their other clamped firmly around the power suppression cuffs around Hero’s wrists.
They couldn’t breathe.
Hero’s mouth opened and closed, their abdomen spasming as their body tried and failed to draw in air.
They couldn’t breathe.
“P… please… can’t… can’t….”
They couldn’t breathe.
Leader smirked, their fingers constricting even further.
They couldn’t breathe.
“I realize now,” Leader whispered, their lips inches from Hero’s ear, “you were never cut out for this line of work.”
They couldn’t breathe.
Darkness encroached the edge of their vision.
They couldn’t breathe.
“It was only a matter of time, before—”
Boom!
An explosion rocked the building to its foundations, throwing Leader off balance. They cursed, releasing Hero and whirling around, hand on their comm. “Techie, what’s happening?”
Hero sank to the floor, gasping for air, hands probing at the bruises on their neck left by Leader’s vise-like grip.
“Techie?! Shit!” Leader glanced over their shoulder at Hero, almost as an afterthought. “I’ll deal with you later,” they spat, yanking off one of their gloves as they sprinted out the cell door, slamming it shut behind them.
Hero’s heartbeat pounded in their ears as they sat there, back against the wall. Techie? What’s going on? Are we under attack?
Who would try to break in here in such an obvious way?
It didn't matter.
This is my only chance.
Hero slowly rose to their feet, leaning heavily against the wall as their vision tunneled, the cell spinning around them. They breathed deeply, listening intently to Leader’s shouts and fading footsteps. As soon as they were out of earshot, Hero would try to get out of the cuffs, and then—!
Leader screamed.
Hero froze, eyes wide.
They’d never heard that sound before. Leader had always seemed so untouchable, so invulnerable. They were never afraid, always in control of every situation. The scream of pain was long, filled with agony, echoing eerily down the hallway.
It cut off abruptly.
Thud.
The hallway fell silent.
Too silent.
Hero’s breathing came in quick, panicked gasps. Who had taken down Leader? Who had caused them to scream in such a way? Not Villain, surely not. Antihero? But how did they know—
Footsteps echoed down the corridor. Hero stiffened and rushed to the cell door, despite the slight tinge of fear that whoever had attacked Leader so successfully might not be an ally. But they didn’t care. Anyone was better than Leader.
When the cell door opened and a familiar face stepped inside, Hero gaped. “Techie?!”
Techie smiled ruefully. They carried a massive weapon, almost as big as they were, fashioned of shiny metal and buttons and lights, vibrating with a low, ominous buzz. “Hey.”
“You… I thought… thought you wouldn’t… did you cause the explosion!?”
Techie actually chuckled, setting the weapon down on the floor and gesturing to Hero’s wrists. “Let me unlock those.”
“Did you?”
“Yes.” The power suppression cuffs fell from Hero’s wrists, and they gasped softly as their powers flooded back, like blood through a numb limb. “I needed something to distract the others,” Techie continued, retrieving their weapon. For such a large object, they carried it as if it were made of paper maché. “I’ve decided that I’m done. Done watching them hurt innocents, harm desperate people, kill those who didn’t deserve it.”
Hero rubbed at the welts left behind by the cuffs on their wrists. “And Leader… was that….”
“Yes.”
“Are they…?”
“I don’t know.”
Hero stared at Techie, shocked by their hard expression. They swallowed nervously. “Where’s Villain?”
Techie nodded their head down the hallway and stepped back, allowing Hero to leave the cell. They glanced in the direction Leader had gone.
Leader's body lay motionless on the ground at the far end of the corridor, at the foot of the staircase leading to the upper floors. Hero could almost imagine Techie standing at the top of the stairs, their gun-like weapon in hand, as Leader appeared at the bottom.
“What about—?”
Techie shook their head. “Please… it's hard enough just thinking about it.”
“Right….”
“Villain needs medical attention,” Techie said, turning and walking in the opposite direction of the staircase. “They had a serious concussion, and Leader certainly made it worse, and—shit!”
“Hey!” Shapeshifter's voice called from behind them. “Stop right there!”
Techie turned on the spot, their weapon humming loudly as it powered up. “Shitshitshit!” They muttered as Shapeshifter closed the distance between them, transforming into a mountain lion and speeding up.
Fwoom!
Hero jumped back as a huge burst of energy, not unlike Pyrokinetic’s fireballs, exploded out of the business end of Techie's weapon. It almost filled the hallway and crackled with electricity, slamming into Shapeshifter. The mountain lion yowled in pain, collapsing to the floor, unmoving.
For a moment, everything was silent. Hero glanced at Techie, who looked like they were about to vomit. Their hands trembled. “I…” they whispered, “this… was only a last resort… I… I can't…”
Hero took a deep breath and turned away. “Villain?”
“Right…” Techie murmured absently, “this way.”
